School’s out!
There will be a end-of-term ceremony at my school later tonight, and then its summer!
Like I said earlier, I’ll be working a great deal this summer. I’ll link to my iCal calendar once its complete. Anyway, as you will no doubt have seen, I further tweaked the site today. New buttons in the sidebar, so you can now fully see the poll. I’ll see if I can make the poll a bit smaller too, in the time ahead. And also, the webcam will now open in the main frame. Archive and iTunes archive will still open in a new window though.
Gathering votes…
Its that time again: time for new features. I implemented a poll as you might have noticed in the sidebar. I hope to use this space in the time ahead to gather information from my readers on how to improve the site in the future, what you like, and what you don’t like. Or just to check the opinions on Mac-heads around the globe.
Now as you probably see (unless you run at a high resolution (over 1024×768)), there is too little space in the sidear, and this makes me regret more and more that I based the new site on frames in the start. So even if this is not a poll (we still have comments you know) – what do you think I should do about this “problem”? My current idea is to make smaller buttons for creative commons and FjortisViewer (same style as the RSS feed ones) – and move the search to a dedicated page (with another button same style). This should hopefully make enough room for a poll with a few options for those of us running 1024×768. Other suggestions? More new stuff in the days and weeks ahead – ah, what are summer holidays for??
Is this the new G5?
A surfaced image claiming to be of the upcoming PowerMac revision (PPC 970?) at WWDC, has been the latest buzz at all major rumors sites today. To me it looks far from real, and dare I say butt-ugly. What do you think? Is this the real thing? And does it look like a Apple product?
One thing is for sure – I can’t wait till next Monday. Even though it looks as if the keynote will not be webcast (at least not live), I will follow the websites. We could always hope MacRumors will have a rep. at one of the streaming Apple Retail Stores to report live on IRC.
Also, on the gaming side – Neverwinter Nights Tech Demo was released today. Head over to MacGameFiles for the file. Hmm, I want more excitement in my life. Oh well, sometime next week – I expect to go go-carting with my brother-in-law. Yep.
Congrats to Eivind :)
Guess some of us are lucky today. Me finishing school and getting a 5 on my exam, and now it turns out Forcer won the MacSofa Bluetooth giveaway. Kinda cool, I have to admit. I wouldn’t have use for the things myself, so I really hope Forcer does sooner or later. There really isn’t much new happening here either. I just realized: Virtual PC sucks! Let’s hope the resurrection of RealPC will happen sooner rather than later. – Also, I will indeed be moving my webcam about a bit in the days and weeks ahead. Summer is here, and if I had a wireless webcam (and preferably a wireless powerbook – or any powerbook – heck, any portable would do) – ok, you will get to see at least my room, and probably some more window shots.
That was fast
Only a day after the release, and my webcam is updated. I talked to the guy behind EvoCam, and sure enough he had a possible workaround for the problem that stopped me from implementing the cam the way I wanted to. Which involved having dual cams running
Oh well, it seems it all relates to a bug in the drivers for the cam, which as I noted yesterday is the IOXperts drivers. The cam is now mounted in the top-right corner, replacing the old random image. What is better than a random image? A completely new one every time of course! (we do not take into account that you visit the site more than once an hour – no you can’t have a free beer Forcer)
I also had my last day at school today, an oral exam in religion. I got a 5 (on a scale from 0 to 6) – so yes, I am very happy today then
Only a week left till WWDC, and the expectations are high. It would be cool if the keynote was webcast (live that is)…
Got exciting ideas for where I should put my webcam? (not on the page, the actual camera) Comment below!
MyCam
Why so much my and me? I dunno, but I pulled out my old Kritter cam yesterday. Then I spent $20 on drivers from IOXperts, and I currently run EvoCam to publish the images. Some trouble with EvoCam at first, and some major bugs that stopped me from implementing it the way I planned. Oh well, I will update it if the bugs get fixed some time.
Right now though, you can hit that shiny webcam button in the navbar, and enjoy the view from my window. I will move the cam about every now and then, so be sure to check it out on a regular basis. And yes, once the bugs in EvoCam gets fixed, you will be able to preview the cam from the main page, so please don’t ask about that
MyTV
Almost *forgot* this in my previous post. My EyeTV, Keyspan Remote and Wacom tablet arrived yesterday. It all works, and I can highly recommend all of them. I’ll probably post more of them later. So anyway, the Keyspan Remote provided a new feature for the upcoming FV update. I’m looking into making a key mapping file for it.
Oh yeah, the iTunes status is much improved already. The history view will now look quite special
Kudos to Swedentom for helping out with some code here. Yep, I *do* like this iTunes Webcam – real webcam is next
MyTunes
Whoa, I did it! My currently playing iTunes track shows up in the “dock” and you can also view a list of my 10 last played tracks. Some tweaking and such will be done in the hours and days ahead (and the auto-update feature is not working yet!! Argh!), but at least its there.
Although perhaps of little use, I made a little discovery today: double-clicking an image inserted in a text document in TextEdit, will open the graphic in Preview.
Update: Restarting Kung-Tunes a couple times seemed to fix the auto-updating. You should now see updated stats whenever I’m playing something (and another lil message when I’m not).
Tabs on Things
Watched some of the new Apple ads yesterday. For some reason, when I saw the one with the little boy doing Eminem (now removed), it reminded me of an old classic I had laying around. Coincidentally, it’s a perfect match! Have a peek!
Got a phone from Linjegods this morning, they are the ones who will be handling my shipment from Apple down here. So, rest assured, my EyeTV, Wacom and DVD-Rs should be here tomorrow evening. Can’t wait! I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve tried it out. I also think about having my currently playing iTunes song displaying somewhere on this page. It takes a bit of setup, so I doubt I will implement it today. We shall see…
Just for fun, this is inserted directly from Kung-Log:

Hallo
More blogging today. Just wanted to share with you all the first minute of “Magic Dance Xplosion Volume 11″, which I find to be quite amusing. To some extent anyway. The actual mix is a bit better, but not much
Also, keep tracking my EyeTV – with enough traffic they might hurry up a bit hehe – it’s currently at the customs. Doh.
