Phoning home…

12Jul03

Steven Frank takes a look at SonyEricsson’s P800 and comparing it with something he calls a “Sidekick” (american-made thing that looks like it could’ve been used in an episode of MacGyver). Overall the “review” gives a good presentation of a great phone, even though I find it disturbing that there are people out there who barely have a clue about what MMS is. Even less people who are otherwise up-to-date on the topic of cellphones.

And if you read this Steve, I’ve had that Panic logo on my phone since I got it ;)
On a completely unrelated note: anyone know of a REALLY LARGE USB Hub? It needs to be self powered, and have like 20 ports. All I’ve seen have 4 or 7 ports - why hasn’t anyone discovered we are literally overthrown with USB devices these days? I don’t wanna plug my stuff in and out all day!

So Dave asks his readership to report bugs with Safari. Then that’s what we do.

An amazing lot of bugs and rendering errors have been fixed since the early betas, for instance Safari now fully works with FilePlanet. The GM of Safari did however introduce a few problems too, most notable for this site is the cutting of background images beyond the initial visible area. Happiness arose when I today saw the bug was fixed. Some problems still persist however.

- LOS.no - this is a norwegian website used for reporting the current condition for the electric meter in your house to the power supplier. Website loads (and works) all fine in Explorer - but in Safari the main page doesn’t load at all. All I get is a blank page! No idea what amount of custom work is done here, but the bug probably affect other sites too.
- Mamut-based webshops - this is the webshop for MacGames.no. Mamut is a e-commerce-system that will allow smaller businesses to get a webshop up and running in no time, and as if the fact you need special (PC-only) software to administrate the system, the pages do not render well on a Mac either. How much of this is related to bad code in Safari, and how much is represented by bad code in the Mamut system, I don’t know, but some parts work better in Explorer anyway. For instance, the different categories will collapse/expand as you click them, whilst in Safari they are all expanded by default (and you cannot collapse them).

That’s about what I have for now. Not a whole lot, but I suppose that is just positive?

Not quite sure how I got this idea today, but I did. I believe it would make excellent playing cards, and whoever created them would make a lot of money. Well, some anyway, maybe.

Like many of you are already aware, I cut my hair yesterday - very much shorter. Me like. A bit nazi yes, but its for the better. I also finally hooked my Mac up to the stereo, away with the peppy Apple Pro Speakers. Now we just wait for my new amp to arrive. With little luck, my Canon camera will ship tomorrow - so if all goes according to plan, my new photoblog will open next week. Speaking of which, I just finished the design for the photoblog today. No teaser though - you will all have to wait :P
Did quite some progress on Camel yesterday, it now actually runs! Oh well, still quite some work left for a release. Hopefully a alpha will be out sooner rather than later. I have the day off from work tomorrow and the weekend, so we shall see what I get done…

Delays

08Jul03

I hate delays. My Canon camera that were SUPPOSED to ship on the 4. has now been pushed till the 11. Oh well, I have plenty of time to tweak the photoblog in the mean time. I think you will like it :)
Been rather busy lately with work and all, and right now I need to finish off a review of EvoCam that you can hopefully read at MacSofa tomorrow. So long.

So I got this cute little iMac today. My brother-in-law bought it to me as a little gift from his vacation in Greece. What can I say? It makes noise, flashes - and produce candy! It’s actually produced in France, but I have never seen it before. Pretty sweet, although the candy-ejector is somewhat malfunctioned.
Also note I now have a working RSS feed up, with full posts for all you RSS junkies!
I would love to post some more, but it’ll have to wait. Hopefully tomorrow :)

Not much happening here as usual. Much work this week, and luckily I will have less work the coming week. I hope to write multiple articles for MacSofa next week, so be sure to drop by ;)
As you can see, the poll is gone. It took up a lot of space, It didn’t really serve a purpose (since I have so few readers) and it started bugging. I added a button for my iCal now so you can easily figure out where I am :) I’m also adding both summaries and full posts in RSS format, however that’ll have to wait till tomorrow.

My Canon camera will ship tomorrow if all goes according to plan, so that means I’ll have it early next week. Once I have some images, I’ll make sure to post them here. And that is in fact one of the coming features here. I’ll make sure to find a sleek way to add images. Yep. I hope to fix a couple things tomorrow, so I’ll report back then. Just hope I have the guts to finish it once I’m home from work.

About the results - not related to the poll - the bandwidth usage for the month of June ended at 73 MB - almost triple that of May! Goodnight :)

Work that body!

01Jul03

Work, work and more work. Having an extra shift tomorrow, bringing my work schedule up to 5 days in row. Oh well, that means money. I ordered a iSight today. And a Canon IXUS 400. For some weird reason, the camera is called PowerShot S400 in the US. Hope they work fine :)
Yes the poll here sucks. There is still too little space for it, and its bugging. And I’m thinking about installing a new php-based thing here soon :) Right now though I will go to sleep and let my Mac finish the ripping of James Bond: From Russia With Love. Think I’m gonna boast the RSS feeds availability too, as per a request from Forcer (ranting about old Amiga MOD files, yeehaw). Oh, and add a link to the iCals :)
